Dear Friends,
Our third 60.12 gathering in Springfield, MA was definitely my favorite. Personally, I arrived feeling a bit dull and discouraged. As we began to worship, the presence of God began to wash over me—it was as though I remembered who I was. Hope and a Biblical view of reality returned. After a very intimate time of worship, God seemed to ignite explosive intercession. We began to intercede for the gulf oil spill. As we did, I sensed God awakening my heart to pray for this with His eyes. I found myself sitting, crying, and crying out for Mercy. We asked for a renewal of the spiritual heritage of the Connecticut River Valley.
Soon, our intercession for “out there” would become much more “in here”. All of us prayed for one another in groups that the Lord would free each of us from the fear of man—we then prayed blessings, encouragement, and strength over each leader present. I left our prayer time a different man than when I came in. This kind of experience is typical of pastor’s gatherings like this one—it’s a big part of the reason we do this, so that we ourselves can be awakened afresh.
